I heart Hogtown

With almost 10 months gone since I left home and another eight months before I return, I find myself thinking about Toronto A LOT.  When I left, I was so very done with that city and couldn’t wait to leave.  I’ve found that distance really does make the heart grow fonder as all of the annoying things have vanished and I’m  left feeling wistful and nostalgic about the place I left behind.
So, besides the obvious (my cats, friends and family), here are a few things that I miss about Hogtown:

Another NB2008 photo, this one was taken through a window in the Distillery District. The gallery that houses it allows you to wander about and explore for free, but forbids photography. They do, however, have very clean windows, and at 3:00 in the morning there wasnt too much stopping us from shooting (what we could) to our heart’s content.

I went for a walk the other night at Sunset. I dont know about in other parts of the world, but in Toronto (this year at least), autumn has brought bright and colourful skies, and crisp weather. Something about the combination has made for inspiring sunsets — and possibly sunrises, although since Im in bed till 830 most days, I wouldnt know lol.

This is Scott. He has a camera. It’s bigger than mine. A *LOT* bigger. But that’s okay, other than wishing I had a faster lens, I love my little XTI … for now ;)
What can I say about Nuit Blanche 2008, except that if Scott hadnt come up from Cheektavegas, it would have blown. Really, we wandered around all of the main urban areas for 5 hours, and saw perhaps three things of interest, one of which was put on by people we knew (hello Post Office people!). It was …

While not the best photo I have ever taken, it’s probably the one that has charmed me the most. Taken at Dog Hill in High Park last weekend, I was having a terrible time snapping photos of all of the lovely dogs running around. What I like about this one is how blurry it all is, yet you can still see the dog’s expression, and it kills me: it’s like he’s thinking, “I’m running around like this because I am a dog, and this is what dogs do. But I’m …

A few weekends ago, Scott was feeling spontaneous (his words), and decided to make the drive up from Buffalo to visit me. With Nuit Blanche being that night, I cant say that I was his sole motivation for making the trek, but as it had been ages since we’d spent any real quality time together, how could I say no?
Saturday night (which was fun even though Nuit Blanche was a bit of a disappointment), came and went. Sunday, neither of us had plans, so we packed up our gear and …
