A winter sunrise

This past Sunday I rose (ridiculously early) and went on a bit of a pre-dawn mission with a few girlfriends. Our plan was to photograph the sunrise at Waikuku Beach, a 25 minute drive from central Christchurch. We miscalculated slightly, missing the startling pinks and oranges of the very early morning, arriving on the beach about 10 minutes before the sun greeted the world. While initially disappointed, the photos from the day turned out brilliantly and are some of the best Ive taken yet!

    I was looking at old archives (from 2005) on my own blog where I’d referred to your running blog a few times, so I thought I’d come by and see what you’re up to! Good to see you’re enjoying New Zealand – my sister (also from Canada originally) moved to Whangarei last year in May, and has been there for just over a year. I think she’s spending another year there.

    So if you ever want to meet other Canadians in NZ and happen to head up to the North island, drop me a line and I’ll introduce you two :)

    Beautiful pics, it makes me wish I could organise to go see my sister there sooner rather than later!
